Privacy Policy
Last modified: June 8, 2026
Introduction
Blockmarkd ("we", "us", "our") operates blockmarkd.com (the "Service"). This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
This policy applies to information collected:
- On the Service.
- In email and other electronic messages between you and the Service.
- When you interact with advertising on the Service.
It does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any external website or service that may link to or be accessible from the Service.
By using the Service, you agree to this privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
What Data We Collect
Account data
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your username and display name
- Your profile picture
- OAuth provider data (e.g. your Google or Discord ID, if you sign in through those services)
This data identifies you and displays your profile. It is linked to your uploaded builds and public activity.
Build and activity data
When you use the Service, we collect:
- Builds you upload, including images, metadata, tags, and attached files
- Builds you save, like, or comment on
- Chests (collections) you create
- Users you follow
- Tags you vote on or suggest
- Reports and bug reports you submit
View data
When you view a build page, we record a view count for that build. This is used to surface trending content and give builders engagement stats.
Analytics data
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymized usage statistics. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across sites. Data collected includes page views, referrer URLs, browser type, and country, all without identifying individual users.
Local storage
We store some preferences locally in your browser (localStorage). This includes your dark mode preference, sidebar state, and search history. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.
How We Use Your Data
- To run the Service: displaying builds, powering search, personalizing your feed
- To moderate content: AI screening of uploaded images, community reports, tag management
- To display advertising on the Service
- To generate aggregate, anonymized statistics (trending builds, popular tags)
- To communicate with you about your account or the Service
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and unauthorized access
AI Processing
When you upload a build, the cover image is sent to an AI service (Anthropic Claude) for two purposes: checking that the image is a real Minecraft screenshot, and generating tags to make the build easier to find. The image is processed and not kept by the AI provider beyond what is needed to return a result.
Advertising
We display ads on the Service. Advertising partners may use anonymized, aggregate data to serve relevant ads. We do not share personally identifiable information with advertisers.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to run Blockmarkd:
- Supabase - authentication, database, file storage, and edge functions
- Netlify - hosting and deployment
- Anthropic (Claude) - AI image screening and auto-tagging
- Sentry - error tracking and monitoring
- Umami - privacy-focused, anonymized analytics
- Google Search Console - search indexing
Each service processes data according to its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data to any third party.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only in these cases:
- With service providers listed above, as needed to run the Service
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you would be notified)
Data Retention
Account data and build data are kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed. Anonymized, aggregate data (view counts, tag statistics) may be kept indefinitely.
Cookies
We use cookies only for authentication (keeping you logged in) and storing cosmetic preferences (dark mode). We do not use tracking cookies. You can set your browser to reject cookies, but some features of the Service may not work as a result.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification - request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure - request deletion of your personal data
- Restriction - request that we limit how we process your data
- Portability - request a transfer of your data in a structured format
- Objection - object to our processing of your data
You can update or delete your account and associated data at any time from your profile settings. For other requests, contact us using the info below. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, and the right to request deletion. California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code Section 1798.83) lets you request information about disclosure of personal data to third parties for direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal data to third parties for direct marketing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last modified" date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised policy.
